The Transformational Education and Global Citizenship Movement is an initiative led by InteRed, Entreculturas, Oxfam Intermón and ALBOAN, in partnership with the teachers’ networks and schools that we work with. The aim of the movement is to boost exchange and joint learning in order to develop transformational educational practices. It is primarily geared towards schools and teaching staff, with a view to fostering educational experiences of global citizenship that facilitate the creation of a much broader movement, connecting those involved, beyond their classrooms and schools, to the global reality and the pursuit of common good.

We understand Transformational Education and Global Citizenship (TEGC) as a continuous socio-educational process that fosters critical, responsible and committed global citizenship on an individual and group level. It entails transforming the local and global reality in order to build a world that is fairer, more equitable and more respectful of diversity and the environment, in which all people can develop fully and freely.

TEGC fosters respect for and the value of diversity as a source of human enrichment. It promotes environmental awareness and responsible consumption, respect for individual and social human rights, gender equality, the value of dialogue as a tool for peaceful conflict resolution and democratic participation, shared responsibility and commitment to building a fair, equitable and caring society.

Since its launch, the movement has received support and funding from the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation AECID).
